A Memorable Experience at the North Festival in Tasmania

This year, I had the pleasure of attending the North Festival in Tasmania, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! North Festival is a celebration of Northern Tasmania’s vibrant food, drink, and culture scene, offering a range of immersive events, tastings, and workshops designed to showcase the region’s finest. From craft cocktails and local brews to artisanal produce and gourmet food, it was a dream for any foodie or explorer.

My husband and I flew over from the Sunshine Coast, excited to see what this renowned festival had to offer. We stayed at the beautiful Stillwater Seven in Launceston, which turned out to be the perfect home base for our adventures. This boutique hotel, situated on the banks of the Tamar River, offers stunning views, luxurious rooms, and an award-winning restaurant—an ideal mix of comfort and style.

Event Highlights

Among the many events, two experiences really stood out during our time at the festival: the Gin Walking Tour with Launceston on Foot and the Hand-Rolled Pasta Course at Stillwater Seven’s restaurant.

Gin Walking Tour with Launceston on Foot
This tour was a fantastic way to explore Launceston while discovering some of its hidden gems. We visited some of the city’s best spots, sampling locally-made gin along the way and learning about the craft behind it. The tour was filled with vibrant stories about Launceston’s history and culture, making it both a delightful and educational experience. Walking through the charming streets, stopping by quirky bars, and sipping on top-notch gin was the perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Hand-Rolled Pasta Course at Stillwater Seven
As lovers of Italian food, my husband and I were thrilled to participate in the Hand-Rolled Pasta Course at Stillwater Seven. The experience was both hands-on and delicious, with the chef guiding us through the art of making fresh pasta from scratch. The class was intimate and personalised, and we left with new skills and a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into creating such beautiful dishes. Of course, tasting the fruits of our labour in a perfectly prepared meal at Stillwater Seven’s restaurant afterwards was the cherry on top.

From start to finish, our time at North Festival was filled with unique and memorable experiences. The combination of Tasmania’s rich local produce, the welcoming atmosphere of Launceston, and the creative spirit of the festival made it an event I’d highly recommend to anyone.

We left with full hearts (and stomachs!) and can’t wait to return to Northern Tasmania to explore even more. Until next time, Tasmania! ✈️

Lots of love!
